Welch’s Transport has been providing warehousing and distribution services for over eighty years, running a fleet of more than eighty trucks from three locations in East Anglia and the East Midlands.
The company recently decided to expand its services into the B2C e-commerce market and began looking for a WMS that would allow it to support the complex pallet-based services it provides to trade customers alongside a new B2C fulfilment operation.
In April 2021, Realtime Despatch began working with Welch’s Transport to understand how it could help manage and optimise the company’s warehouse processes. The end result of the study was a proposal that detailed how OrderFlow WMS could support the business’ current needs, as well as evolve with the organisation as it grows. This was accepted, and the contract was signed in May. Work is now well under way, with the new system scheduled to go live in September 2021.
“During our research of 3PL WMS providers we came across Realtime Despatch and after an initial conference call it became apparent that we had a lot of synergies with Charlie and his team. We loved their personalised approach and the time they gave their customer base, including guaranteed monthly development time,” says Chris Welch, Welch’s Transport Ltd Commercial and Operational Director.
“The deal was sealed when following a scoping exercise, conducted by Charlie himself, the team established that they could seamlessly integrate our current B2B warehousing activity with their B2C core system – something that no other provider we looked at could do.
“We are looking forward to working with Realtime Despatch and launching the new 3PL eCommerce fulfilment arm of our business.”
Charlie Armor, Realtime Despatch Managing Director, adds: “We’re delighted to be working with Welch’s and are looking forward to delivering a solution that offers significant benefits to both parts of their business.”
